japanese rush floor cushion

Woven by an octogenarian craftsman from Hiroshima, these beautiful Japanese rush cushions lend themselves well to garden life. Each one is generously proportioned making a comfortable place to sit on the lawn or deck.

Made from Igusa, a rush grass traditionally used in the production of tatami mats, the cushions share the fresh green hue and fragrance of tatami, both will fade overtime (if you find the smell a little overwhelming at first you can air them outside).

This handmade items requires the application of care, common sense and respect when being used. Although we suggest these for outside we would always recommend bringing them inside after use, and would definitely not recommend using them on damp or wet grass.
